Time to rise and wise up people

Posted September 5. 2013

If you believe the city is wrong planning a locked up 20-year solid waste management program, make your presence felt.

If you believe the existing waste management plan is over-priced, over-built and has failed the taxpayer’s needs; plan to attend the city’s presentation Thursday, September 12 at Cutten Fields starting at 5 p.m.

More than $50 million has already been spent to manage our waste and the result is a cost per household that is almost double the average waste management costs of surrounding peer municipalities.

Exercise your right to speak up and object to this unnecessary plan. If it is patterned after the present waste management operation, it will cost taxpayers millions over the next 20 years to execute and maintain.

A simple “NO” is sufficient.

If you are unable to attend send an email or the equivalent, expressing your objection to Dr. Janet Laird, Executive Director of Waste Management, 1 Carden Street, Guelph.

Let them know their field of dreams won’t happen.

Note: in the next 13 months the people of Guelph will be barraged by claims, counterclaims and propaganda about what a great job the Mayor and administration has done in the past eight years. Opposing the administration is GrassRoots Guelph an organization of the people to bring back common sense, transparency and fiscal management to City Hall.
